CBCG Tutorial
Once you register as a customer, you'll be able to purchase reports. When you have purchased report credits, you'll be able to start generating reports. Here's how to do it.
- Click on "New Report". You'll see a number of sections to fill out.
- Getting started: General Info.
- Type in site address (Note: storage of your reports will be by date and site address.)
- Select type of report: PDI, 30 day, 1 year, 2 year, or General Format.
- Choose to Show Ontario Building Code codes. Note: all items in your reports that are code infractions will be referenced. Do not click on this feature if you do not want O.B.C. references in your report.
- Select location of defect.
- Select a sector from the first menu: Exterior, Basement, or Interior.
- The next menu to the right of your screen will guide you to the general area of the sector you want in your report - click it.
- The last menu at the right of your screen gets you closer to the item you want in your report - click it.
- Select defect/item identified.
- Click the sentence that accurately describes the construction defect/item you have identified, or
- Click the sentence that almost describes the construction defect/item you have identified and amend the sentence, or
- Click the "new blank sentence" button and create your own customized sentence.
- Edit the final checklist.
- The sentence you selected is now in your report.
- You must now select "a location key" by using the drop down menus above the sentence. If you want to be more precise in your location description, you may customize using the far right field.
- If you made a mistake or wish to delete the sentence just click the "x" at the right hand side of the sentence.
- Repeat the process and add as many sentences as you like. When your report is finished, click the "report complete" button.
- If you are happy with the report you can then print, send by email or store for future editing.
- The report will be posted on your home page and will be stored for two years, if you are a subscriber. This will allow you to retrieve, edit and store reports.
- The CBCG offers one day seminars on how to conduct "new construction" inspections using this report writing system to your fullest advantage. Contact us for more information.
